Krasnyi Lyman

Krasnyi Lyman (Ukrainian: Красний Лиман) is a city in Donetsk Oblast (province) of Ukraine. Population is 28,172 (2001).

History

It was founded in the 17th century by cossacks as Liman (Lyman). In the course of the administrative reform carried out in 1708 by Peter the Great, Liman was explicitly mentioned as one of the towns included to Azov Governorate.[1][2] The town obtained the prefix Krasnyi (Red) in 1925.
