Kownaty [kɔvˈnatɨ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Torzym, within Sulęcin County, Lubusz Voivodeship, in western Poland.[1] It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) north of Torzym, 12 km (7 mi) south of Sulęcin, 44 km (27 mi) south of Gorzów Wielkopolski, and 54 km (34 mi) north-west of Zielona Góra.
Before 1945 the area was part of Germany (see Territorial changes of Poland after World War II).
