Kotido is a town in Northern Uganda. It is the chief municipal, administrative and commercial center of Kotido District and the district headquarters are located there. The district is named after the town.

Location

Kotido is located approximately 100 kilometres (62 mi), by road, northwest of Moroto, the largest town in the sub-region.[1] The coordinates of the town are:03 00 22N, 34 06 45E (Latitude:3.0060; Longitude:34.1125).

Population

The 2002 national census estimated the population of the town of Kotido at 13,694. The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), estimated the population of the town at 18,800 in 2008.[2] In 2011, UBOS estimated the mid-year population of Kotido at 22,900.[3]
