Konkhra is a Danish death metal band formed in Køge, in 1989. It started songs in 1998.

History

Konkhra was first formed under the name of "Vicious Circle" in Køge—a small town south of Copenhagen—in November 1989. Before changing their name, they issued the self-titled demo Vicious Circle (1990); renaming themselves "Konkhra" they followed up with Malgrowth (1991). Konkhra then, signed with Progress label and released the Stranded EP. This official debut, was limited to only 3,000 copies, and featured artwork by Chicago-based tattooer, Guy Aitchison.[1]

The name "Konkhra" stems from how drummer Clausen heard Tom Angelripper, of German thrash metal band Sodom fame, pronounce the word "conqueror" on the double live album Mortal Way of Live.[2] Drummer Clausen suggested the name change to the band.
