Konan (湖南市 Konan-shi) is a city located in southern Shiga Prefecture, Japan.
The modern city of Konan was established on October 1, 2004 by the merger of the towns of Kōsei and Ishibe (both from Kōka District).
As of 2004, the town has an estimated population of 54,707 and a population density of 776.09 persons per km². The total area is 70.49 km².
