Kompally is one of the fastest growing suburbs of Hyderabad, India. Before the residential boom, it was a small village outside Hyderabad, with grape gardens and farm houses. The grape gardens and vast lands of farm houses made it one of the greenest suburbs of Hyderabad.
25 years back, Kompally was famous for Grape Gardens in the outskirts of Hyderabad. Sri Chekuri Suryanarayana Raju and Late Sri Byrraju Satyanarayana Raju started Grape Gardens in the 1960s. He was the founder chairman of Satyam Group of Companies.
Now most of the gardens have become layouts.
The main approach to Kompally is the 250 feet, 6 Lane, NH 7 towards Nagpur and Kompally is just 10 km from Paradise, Secunderabad. There is lot of green everywhere in Kompally making it the best place for a home.
It has landmarks like Prajay Apartments, Runway - 9, Satyam Computers, A P Forest Academy at Dhulapally, Apparel Export Park, EMRI and Dhola-ri-Dhani. It comes under HMDA (Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Area). The land value here is quite high. The multiplex, Cine Planet is situated here.
The outer Ring Road is connected at Kandlakoya, 3 km from Kompally. The famous Basar - Saraswathi temple is a 4½ hour drive from here.
The Educational Institution, Malla Reddy Group of Institutions is situated about 5 km from here. This group was started off by its parent college Malla Reddy Engineering College. Several other Educational are located around Kompally. SP Sampathy's Siva Sivani Educational Institution is a notable one. Several Engineering Colleges are located around the place. Notable are Malla Reddy Group of Institutions, St.Peter's Engineering College, Narsimha Reddy Engineering College, St. Martin's Engineering College, Institute of Aeronautical Research and Institute, CMR College of Engineering & HITAM.

The shopping center has developed into a good one here. This place is agog with a lot of construction activity by some very reputed builders adding to the already heated property prices of Hyderabad. It is certainly building up to a scenario where supply will surpass demand considering the fact that there is hardly any open spaces available within the reach of the middle class.
The place has its advantages like breathing space, shopping and entertainment arcades which provides the much needed relief for the locals in and around Kompally for bypassing the traffic congestion of the HITECH City. It is close to Hitech city through an alternative route and would come around 18 km. Hence, many people working in IT industry are opting to stay here.
Several Supermarkets supply to the various needs to the people living around the area. The Vensai tower is a favorite hangout spot which is closer by the Cine Planet as it offers Gaming Zones, Parlor's, a Gym and other things that attract the Youth more. The Runway 9 is a Karting Track located right beside Vensai offers amazing racing experience and its Pub is adjacent to it. It offers other recreational activities such as shooting, skating, mini Golf and few other things for Children.
Suchitra Center which is a neighbouring suburb is a good commercial spot with various products available. Several Schools are present around this place. It is a good hangout spot for various people meeting together as the junction connects other parts of the city.It has a special spot beside the Andhra Bank ATM there a shop located which sells a nutritious drink named "SARJA" it is very famous here and not available anywhere else in the city. A company named as Omni Aviation Services is located in Bank Colony which provides Pilot Training and other Aviation Courses.

The presence of good schools in Kompally is making it an attractive suburb for families to move here. Oldest School is SP Sampathy's SPS High School. The historic St.Ann's High School has moved its primary school to Petbasherabad Kompally campus from Secunderabad. Other good schools in and around Kompally are Suchitra Academy, Unicent School, DRS International School, Neeraj Public School, Sadhu Vaswani School, Diksha (Waldorf school), Sherwood public school, St.Anthony's High School etc.

Transport
APSRTC runs buses to connect to various parts of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. There are lot of Auto Rickshaws plying on the route, is also a cheaper option. 227,229,233,235 are the bus routes to Kompally from the Secunderabad.
The closest MMTS Train station is at Bollarum.
Kompally is located on NH-7 which connects Nagpur and Secunderabad. The Highway is well equipped with Street Lighting facility along with greenery looked after by HMDA. There are 4 tracks (6 Lanes) for the Highway to facilitate Cars, Cycles and Bikes on a separate road.
