Komga is a town in Amatole District Municipality in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.

Town 64km north of East London and 55km east of Stutterheim. It was founded as a farming centre in 1877 on the site of a military camp established in 1854, and acquired municipal status in 1904. Of Khoekhoen origin, the name probably does not mean 'brown', as has been stated, but 'lots of clay', 'clayey'.[2]

It also has one of the oldest schools in the Eastern Cape, named Komga Junior. As well as St. Paul's Anglican church which is a national heritage site.

Sports

Soccer is very popular around Komga. Komga Swallows is a football (soccer) club based in Komga that played in the Castle League. It is the first team in that region to play in the Castle League. Other teams recently played in the Castle league are Thulani FC and Liverpool FC.

Siyanda Grey is a South African rugby union player, currently playing with the Eastern Province Kings.

Vusumzi "CheeseBoy" Bokolo is a professional boxer currently playing in the PBL League in East London. Bokolo is the Eastern Cape Lightweight champion.
