Kobus Van Rensburg (October 24, 1952 - December 21, 2013) was a South African author, public speaker, and televangelist . He is the founder of Spirit Word ministries, and an advocate for life gospel. According to his ministry life and death is a choice, and people can choose to live forever without dying at all, and also he strongly believes that people can be prosperous by practicing biblical financial principles e.g. tithing, giving offerings, and having faith.

Early life

Kobus Van Rensburg was born to a God-fearing mother. His father left at an early age, since his mother refused to "put out" on a regular basis. He claims to have loved Jesus from a small age. On his 7th birthday He gave his life to God in an Evangelistic meeting. He then spent his High School career in a hostel, with the wrong friends and as a result drifted away from Jesus. By the age of 19, he was caught up with smoking, drinking, drugs and stealing. In 1971 he joined the South African Air Force and was soon transferred to the Navy to study Electronical Engineering and also to do an officers course. he furthered his career at Atlas Aircraft Co-op, Kobus also mentions in his meetings that he was dismissed from the Navy, for being absolutely useless. During his sermons he mentions that after being dismissed from the navy, his mother encouraged him to re consider his life, and he met Jesus again. At age 24 he was back, returned to Christianity and within days preaching in the street corners and praying for the sick. He claims that after two weeks of coming to Jesus he prayed for a cripple and the cripple was made whole. Kobus Van Rensburg attended a full gospel bible college, that is where he met his wife Annalise Van Rensburg. He did not finish bible college as he claimed that he did not agree with the material being taught in the college. He was then ordained as a full gospel pastor despite him not finishing college.
