Knowledge Musona (born 21 June 1990) is a Zimbabwean footballer who plays as a striker for Kaizer Chiefs on loan from 1899 Hoffenheim in the South African Premier Soccer League and the Zimbabwe national team. He previously played for Aces Youth Soccer Academy in Zimbabwe and Kaizer Chiefs before joining Hoffenheim.

Personal life

Musona hails from Norton, Mashonaland West and attended Lord Malvern High School in Harare. His younger brother Walter Musona is also a footballer.^[1]

Club career

Musona joined Kaizer Chiefs in 2009 without having made an appearance in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League. At Aces he played with current Mamelodi Sundowns player Khama Billiat.

He was used sparingly as a substitute in the 2009–10 season but still managed to score a handful of crucial goals. In July 2010 he was awarded the PSL Club Rookie of the Year award.^[2]

The 2010–11 season proved to be Musona's break through season as he scored 15 goals in 28 league games to win the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot which attracted the interest of European clubs such as Bundesliga side 1899 Hoffenheim, Serbian giants FK Partizan and Scottish Premier League giants Celtic.

On 28 July 2011, Musona signed for German Bundesliga side 1899 Hoffenheim, with the player signing a five-year contract for R19,5 million.^[3]

He made his debut as a substitute against SC Freiburg in a 3–1 win^[4] and scored his first goal in a 2–1 DFB Pokal win over 1. FC Köln on 25 October 2011.

On 18 May 2012, it was announced that Musona would join Bundesliga side FC Augsburg on a one-year loan for the upcoming season.^[5]

Kaizer Chiefs

In July 2013, he moved back to his old club Kaizer Chiefs on a loan deal.^[6]

International career

He made his national team debut in a friendly against South Africa on 3 March 2010.
