Kirby: Triple Deluxe, known in Japan as Hoshi no Kirby Toripuru Derakkusu (星のカービィ トリプルデラックス) is the thirteenth platform installment of the Kirby video game series, developed by HAL Laboratory, and published by Nintendo. Kirby: Triple Deluxe was launched in retail and on the Nintendo eShop on 11 January 2014 in Japan and will be released during the second or third quarter of 2014 for both Europe and the North America.[2]
Story
One morning while Kirby is sleeping a giant beanstalk begins growing under Dream Land and carries various landmarks including Kirby's house and King Dedede's castle into the sky. When Kirby wakes up he finds he is in a new land high in the skies above Dream Land. Kirby makes his way to Dedede's Castle and finds the culprit behind the beanstalk is a six-armed, caterpillar-like floating creature that has captured Dedede and has him trapped in a prism made of light. The creature attacks Kirby and knocks him away, out of the castle, and off the beanstalk. Now, with most of Dream Land stuck in the sky, Kirby has to make his way back up the beanstalk and set things right.
Gameplay
Kirby: Triple Deluxe is a platformer displayed in a 2.5D perspective. The game uses the same engine as Kirby's Return to Dream Land, this time however, Kirby can move between both the foreground and the background with the use of a Warp Star. Some sections of the level continue into the foreground or background, enemy and some boss's attacks will also appear from the background or foreground. Up to four players can play Kirby: Triple Deluxe.
Kirby can eat a rainbow colored seed to become Hypernova Kirby; this new power up allows him to inhale extremely large objects such as trains and trees which is used for a number of puzzles in the game.
New copy abilities include: beetle which allows Kirby to use a rhinoceros beetle's horn to impale enemies and slam them on the ground or pick them up and carry them around, bell; wields twin bells like clubs and can attack with sound waves and use the bell as a shield, archer; fires arrows in any direction and clown which allows Kirby to ride on a giant rolling ball to bowl over enemies and juggle bowling pins to attack enemies above him. At least 20 copy abilities from previous games return.
Two new subgames are a Super Smash Bros. style fighting game where the player can customize their own Kirby and give him any of the game's copy abilities to battle other Kirbies in stages based on levels from previous Kirby games and a Rhythm game starring King Dedede who jumps on drums while avoiding enemies and collecting coins to the tune of classic Kirby songs.
Development
The game was announced on 1 October 2013 during a Nintendo Direct presentation.[3]
