Khurrianwala (Urdu: كهُرڑياں والا), is a town, residential area and industrial estate of Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. It has large number of textile manufacturing industries. Khurrianwala is the heart of Pakistan textile Industry MTM Mills Ltd., Interloop, Ibrahim Fibers, Chenab Ltd, Nishat Ltd, Sitara Group. And many more

History

During the regime of Sher Shah Suri (1486–1545) the land of the area was barren, and he constructed a well to remedy the situation. "Well" is pronounced as khu and "barren land" is pronounced as rrian in the Punjabi language, so that is why this town is known as Khurrianwala.

The area is known for a historical road from Khurrianwala to Jhumra, constructed by King Sher Shah Suri. During his reign, much development took place. He also made a tower for postal purposes, which can still be seen. It is the oldest building in Khurrianwala.[1] The police station of Khurrianwala was established in 1914. Faisalabad's famous psychologist have started a large psychological rehabilitation center for psychiatric patients and drug addicts called "REHAB HOME" in Khurrianwala-Jhumra Road near Khawaja Garden.

Modern era

Khurrianwala has observed an enormous growth in its population for the last two decades owing to the rapid increase in textile and cotton based industries. Around 15000 people travel in and out of Khurrianwala on a working day.

Industries

Textile industries in the area include Amtex Mill, Bismillah Textile, Interloop Limited, Masood Textile Mills, MSC Textile, Liaqat Textile, Arzoo Textile and Arshad Group of Textile and Industries.

Schools

Hundreds of students attend higher secondary schools for boys and girls. There are two degree colleges for higher education. Government girls degree college as well as boys degree college[2][3]
