Khan al-Asal (also spelled Khan al-Assal)) is a village north in Syria. It is administratively a subdistrict of Aleppo, whitch is a part of the Mount Simeon District in the Aleppo Governorate . The village is located 12 km west-southwest of Aleppo city center.[1]

The village is separated in a northern and a sourthern part by the Halap - Edleb Road to Idlib. The Aleppo - Damascus Highway is the subdistricts boundary in the south. A police academy is located 500 meter souteast of the village. A military fuel storage is located close to the western boundary of the village.[1]

Khan al-Asal chemical attack

The village is mostly known as the place were the first chemical attack in Syria took place on 19 March 2013, which resulted in at least 26 fatalities and more than 86 injuries.[1]
