Khamgaon is a city in Buldhana District, Maharashtra, India. It is also called Rajat Nagari ("Silver Town").[citation needed] \

Khamgaon is located at 20°41′N 76°34′E / 20.68°N 76.57°E / 20.68; 76.57.[1] It has an average elevation of 323 metres (1059 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Khamgaon had a near about population of 88,787. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Khamgaon has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 71%. In Khamgaon, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age. Marathi is the main language spoken here with hint of varhadi dialect.[citation needed]
