Kevin Duala
Kevin Duala is an English television presenter from Liverpool, Merseyside. He is a trained teacher in all aspects of Dance, Drama and Physical Education and is fluent in German and Spanish. He is perhaps best known for the role of 'Kevin' in the British version of Blue's Clues (1998-2003) for Nick Jr, but is a familiar face presenting on UK cable channels such as Thomas Cook TV and Gala TV. He also presents at Gala live every week. In 2009, he voiced as Engie Benjy in the 5th season.
Biography
Duala's paternal grandfather was Cameroonian, Thomas Duala, born c. 1900. Thomas emigrated to Britain and married Ellen McGurthy; they had two sons and four daughters. Kevin Duala was born in Liverpool and is a supporter of Liverpool Football Club.[1] He was a semi-professional footballer before an injury ended his career and he went to drama school. He began working as stage actor and starred as Rocky 1 in Starlight Express. His role was cut short when his knee cap snapped while on stage and he had to be rushed to hospital.[1] He is perhaps best known for the role of 'Kevin' in the British version of Blue's Clues for Nick Jr. His other television credits include Who Wants To Be a Great Cook?, Allsorts, and Modelmania. He was also a presenter on the "Prize Time" and "Games Room" strands on Challenge TV, and also presented Virtual World of Sport on The Computer Channel, Boiled Egg and Soldiers on Sky1 and Zig Zag on BBC2.
Duala presented travel inserts for Thomas Cook TV and can be heard on the radio station BBC Radio 4 Extra where he co-hosts Big Toe,[2] which is aimed at children and young teenagers, as well as numerous V/O commercials from the Army to Adidas. He can also be seen presenting the bingo on Gala TV for ETV Media Group, the same company who produces Thomas Cook TV. He made his debut as a presenter on Gala TV on 20 February 2010, and the following day he qualified as a Personal Trainer. Duala has also fronted a series of language programmes for BBC Education in Spain and around Europe and presented features for Holiday on BBC1. He was a presenter on the British channel, Argos TV on channel number 642, until the channel was closed in May 2013.[3] Duala lives in Andalucia, Spain with his wife Steph and three young children, Ella, Joseph and Darcey.
