Kenny de Meirleir
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kenny de Meirleir is a professor of physiology and internal medicine at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium.[1]
He researches chronic fatigue syndrome and has created two tests:
- a breath test[2] to diagnose overgrowth of bacteria in the gut.
- a urine test[3] to detect high levels of hydrogen sulfide. The test is related to the diagnosis and treatment of CFS/ME.
Especially the hydrogen sulfide test is very controversial, but neither test has received independent validation.
He treats ME-patients both at his clinic in Belgium, Himmunitas[4] and in different cities around Europe. There is a wiki web site that describes his approach.[5] The same site also gathers evidential support for many of his and others methods.[6]
Kenny de Meirleir is among the authors of over 80 published scientific articles,[7] most of them related to CFS/ME.
