Kempe Gowda is a 2011 Kannada action film starring Sudeep and Ragini Dwivedi in the lead roles. The film has been directed by Sudeep and produced by Shankare Gowda. The film is a remake of the Tamil superhit film Singam which starred Surya and Anushka Shetty, written by famous Tamil director Hari who is well known for his successful village style movies. Arjun Janya has composed the music.[1] This movie was also remade into Hindi as Singham starring Ajay Devgn and Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles.[2] It has been dubbed in Hindi as Bajirao The Fighter.
Plot
Kempe Gowda is a sub-inspector in a dusty village of Rona in Hubli, his native, where he is adored. Armugam, a notorious criminal, is brought down to his knees at the local police station. Their egos clash and Armugam, who has never had to face an opposition before, decides to teach Gowda a lesson. He is transferred to Bangalore, where Amugam's writ runs large. As the cop begins to unearth Armugam's misdeeds, he realises that he is up against a real challenge.

Response
Kempe Gowda earned a bumper of 5 crore (US$800,000) at first week.[3] It collected more than 15 crore (US$2.4 million) at the box office and declared as super hit of the year.

Kempegowda Audio released by Anand Audio was declared a superhit upon its release. The songs composed by Arjun Janya to the lyrics of V. Nagendra Prasad remained top for many weeks in the Radio stations.
