Keiji Tamada (玉田 圭司 Tamada Keiji, born 11 April 1980 in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese football player, who currently plays for the J. League team Nagoya Grampus.

Career

Club career

Tamada entered Kashiwa Reysol from the Narashino High School in 1999. He accomplished the debut by the game against Avispa Fukuoka on 13 March 1999. He experiences the acquisition of the title of the J. League Cup in year of the joining first. However, he was not able to take part in the game easily. His beginning to appear in the game came to be paid attention gradually afterwards in the latter half of the season of 2002 and to be elected the Japan national team in 2004. He transferred the register to Nagoya Grampus taking the opportunity of Kashiwa Reysol's having demoted it to J2 in 2006.[2] He took an active part at the season of 2008 and Nagoya decided the first participation to the AFC Champions League. He enumerated two goals in AFC Champions League 2009 that became a debut for Nagoya Grampus and contributed to the semifinal advancement of the team. Nagoya Grampus acquires the J. League Champion in 2010.

National Team career

Tamada accomplished his Japan national team debut in the game against Singapore in 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying on 31 March 2004.[1] He scored 3 goals in the 2004 AFC Asian Cup, and this contributed to the acquisition of the title by the Japan national team. He was a member of the Japanese Squad at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.[1] He scored a goal against Brazil in the first round of that World Cup.[1] He scored 2 goals in 2010 World Cup qualifying matches helping Japan to reach the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He participated in 2 games with 2010 FIFA World Cup.[1]
