Temple History

Thirumangai Azhvar and Saiva Kuravar Sambandar had a colloquim and the azhwar won the caption. The God in the temple is praised as Man alantha Tadalan meaning the one who measured the land.[2] The name Tadalan is in honour of Tiruvikrama form and the moolavar(prime deity) fixed in the central shrine is in this form. The Lord appeared for sage Ashtakoma.[3][4]
