Kaugachhi is a census town under Jagatdal police station of Barrackpore subdivision[1] in North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Kaugachhi had a population of 13,904. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kaugachhi has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 67%. In Kaugachhi, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Healthcare

North 24 Parganas district has been identified as one of the areas where ground water is affected by arsenic contamination.[3]
