Katy Kavanagh (born Kathryn Sarah Collins; 12 December 1973) is an English actress, best known for her role as Julie Carp in Coronation Street, which she has played since 2008.[1]
Early life and career
Born in North Shields, North Tyneside, Kavanagh grew up in Bolton, Greater Manchester and was educated at Canon Slade School. She has been appearing regularly on British television since 1997. She had recurring roles as Mel in the award-winning series The Cops, as Detective Sergeant Dawn "Spike" Milligan in Dalziel and Pascoe and as Shirley Lawson in 1 episode Shameless before taking on the role of Julie Carp in Coronation Street, first appearing on screen on 25 April 2008. She has also made appearances in The Bill, in 2000, 2006 & 2 episodes in 2008.
She also starred in a late 2007 episode of Blue Murder.
She featured in her first film in a short cameo in the 2009 film, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
Personal life
Kavanagh is married to filmmaker Chris Jupe and has three children, Noah (born c.2004), Jemma (born c.2007) and Jacobi (born c.2013)[2]
