Karkaar

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karkaar is the name of series of mountains in Northeast portion of Somalia.

It is also the name of an administrative region defined by the self-declared autonomous state of Puntland. This territory occupies the south of what has traditionally been the Bari region of Somalia and generally lies south of the Karkaar mountain range.[1]

The region has a population of almost 350,000[citation needed] and is economically dependent on livestock and seasonal fishing (for its coastal districts).
