Karin Kortje
Karin Kortje (born 12 August 1980) is the winner of the third season of Idols in South Africa.[1] With her in the final was Gift Gwe.
After announcing the winner on 27 November 2005, M-Net released the voting results for the top 12. During each week's count Karin received the most votes and was thus the most popular contestant during the entire Idols III. Karin received 65% of the final votes [2]

Debut Album
After winning Idols, Karin moved to Johannesburg to record her debut album "Forever And A Day". Karin wanted the songs to have an inspirational message. The album was recorded and released on 11 November 2006! The debut single was “I am so ready”. It was released in CD format with two bonus tracks "Ordinary People" & "Joy To The World". The album received gold status, selling more than 20 000 copies. [3]
Life after Idols
Karin met former South Africa President, Nelson Mandela shortly after winning Idols. In 2006 Karin won the You Magazine You Spectacular award for "News Maker Of The Year". Karin graced the covers of several magazines including Sarie, Huisgenoot and You Magazines. Karin then took a break from the lime light. [4]
Personal life
Karin got married to Shaundore Aspeling on 29 August 2009 in her hometown Grabouw. Gift Gwe, runner–up in Idols Season 3, performed for her on her wedding day.[5] She has 3 sons: Cameron, Tobin & Sergio.
New Beginnings
In 2009, Karin teamed with new management. She released a brand new single "Love In The First Degree" without a recording deal. The song was no 1 on both Goodhope Fm & Heart 104.9 fm's SA TOP 10 Charts. The song stayed no 1 for a couple of weeks. It was also featured on DJ Keiths album! [6]
In 2011 Karin played in the musical "This Is My Life" telling her life story, before, during and after Idols, with Idols Winner, Season 4, Jody Williams. The show ran for a second season. This time featuring Karin and Emo Adams's older brother Loukmaan Adams.[7]
