Kari Brooke Jobe (born April 6, 1981) is an American contemporary Christian music singer and songwriter. Since her first album in 2009, she has received one Grammy Award nomination and three Dove Award nominations, two of which she won. Jobe is also an associate worship pastor at Gateway Church.

Biography

Kari Jobe was born in Waco, Texas^[1] to parents Mark Douglas and Caroline "Sandy" (née Bragg) Jobe and was raised in Watauga, Texas and Hurst, Texas. She has two siblings, Kristen and Caleb. Jobe first began singing at the age of three,^[2] and became a Christian at the age of five. As she grew older, she attended Oral Roberts University, Christ for the Nations Institute and Dallas Baptist University and obtained her degree in pastoral studies and psychology.^{[citation needed]}

After graduation, Jobe was asked to work as an associate worship pastor for Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, Jobe’s church of six years, which she accepted. She works alongside her father, Mark, in the church^[3] and has traveled internationally on mission trips to lead worship.^[4] Jobe is also a member of Gateway Worship, a Christian worship band associated with Gateway Church. Their live album, Wake Up the World, debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Christian Albums chart in 2008.

Aside from being a worship leader and pastor, Jobe released her first major-label self-titled debut album in February 2009 by Integrity Music/Columbia Records/Gateway Create.

2009–2011: Kari Jobe

Jobe released her self-titled, debut album on February 10, 2009. The album shot to No. 67 on the Billboard 200 list,^[5] and No. 1 on iTunes' Christian music chart.^[6] and No. 3 on Billboard's Christian music chart. A Spanish-language version of the album was released under the name Le Canto. Prior to releasing Kari Jobe, Jobe has released a compilation album titled Kari Jobe, a live concert album titled Throneroom Worship: Live Acoustic Worship and a Christmas album titled Bethlehem.

From her self-titled album, "I'm Singing" debuted at No. 13 on Billboard's Christian singles chart.^[7] Jobe's second single, "Healer" was released in 2009 and debuted at No. 33 on Billboard's Soft A/C chart.^[8] She released the single "Adore Him" in 2009, the song appearing as part of Integrity Music's compilation album Worship and Adore: A Christmas Offering.

She won two Dove Awards for Special Event Album of the Year and Spanish Language album and was nominated for New Artist of the Year.^[9][10]

In 2011, Jobe signed with EMI CMG Sparrow Records.^[11]

2012–present: Where I Find You and Majestic

Jobe released her second recording project, "Where I Find You" on January 24, 2012. The album debuted at No. 75 on the Canadian Albums Chart.^[12] The album also debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200.^{[citation needed]}

Jobe received her first Grammy nomination for Where I Find You as Best Contemporary Christian Album in 2012.^[13]

In May 2013, Jobe competed in season two of GSN's The American Bible Challenge, along with Sheila Walsh and author Lisa Harper. Their charity was A21 Campaign, an anti-trafficking organization that aims to abolish slavery.^[14]

Jobe took home the first award for Female Vocalist of the Year at the first K-LOVE Fan Awards in 2013. Jobe announced the recording of a live worship album. The recording took place on November 20 and 21 at the Majestic Theater in Dallas, Texas.^{[citation needed]} The album, Majestic, will be released on March 25, 2014 and its first single, "Forever", will be released February 18, 2014.^{[citation needed]}
