Karen Abbott (born January 23, 1973) is an American writer.
Career
She has written Sin in the Second City, which tells the true story of the Everleigh Club brothel and the nation-wide battle to shut it down, and American Rose, about stripteaser Gypsy Rose Lee and American culture during the Roaring Twenties and Great Depression.[1] Both are New York Times bestsellers, and USA Today has called her a “pioneer of sizzle history.”[2] Her next book, a true story of four Civil War spies, will be published by HarperCollins in 2014.[3] A native of Philadelphia, where she worked as a journalist for Philadelphia magazine, she now lives in New York City.
