Karşıyaka is a Turkish sports club located in Karşıyaka, Izmir. Club's football team is currently plays in the Turkish First League. The "SK" refers to the "sports club", as this club has 8 other sports branches on-going basketball, volleyball, handball, tennis, swimming, sailing, billiards and bowling. The team was founded on November 1, 1912 in Karşıyaka. Karşıyaka merged with Bornovaspor and was renamed as Yamanlarspor between 1937 and 1944.
Karşıyaka have a fierce rivalry with Göztepe; the two İzmir teams are collectively known as the Izmir Derby. Other rivalries are against Bucaspor and Altay.
Karşıyaka supporters like to call the club "The 35 and a half", to differentiate themselves from Izmir that license plate number is 35.
