The Kanyakumari Express is a superfast train operated by Southern Railway. The train runs between Kanyakumari and Chennai. It is a daily overnight service. This runs through Tambaram,Chengalpet,Villupuram,Tiruchi,Dindigul,Madurai,Virudhunagar,Satur,Kovilpatti,Tirunelveli,Nagercoil and Kanyakumari. In return stops at Mambalam also. This train connects the state capital with the southernmost point in mainland India. This was classified as a superfast train as the average speed of the train is greater than 55 km/h[1]

As per the numbering convention of Indian Railways,[citation needed] this train is alloted a number 12634 for the journey between Kanyakumari and Chennai, 12633 for journey between Chennai and Kanyakumari.[1]
