Kanichar is a village in Kannur district in the Indian state of Kerala. Kanichar is a Grama Panchayath, (a local self-government). The current political party in charge of the Panchayath is the UDF, and its president is Pal Gopalan. There are thirteen wards in Grama Panchayath, the most attractive one being Kadanmala .[citation needed]

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Kanichar had a population of 16200 with 8038 males and 8162 females.

Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary,a tourist spot, is about 7 km away from Kanichar town.
