Kangley is a village in LaSalle County, Illinois, United States. The population was 287 at the 2000 census. It is part of the OttawaStreator Micropolitan Statistical Area. It is a part of the geographic region known as Streatorland.

Geography

Kangley is located at 41°8′48″N 88°52′22″W / 41.14667°N 88.87278°W / 41.14667; -88.87278 (41.146623, -88.872657).[1]

According to the 2010 census, the village has a total area of 0.26 square miles (0.67 km2), all land.[2]

Demographics

As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 287 people, 115 households, and 81 families residing in the village. The population density was 849.5 people per square mile (325.9/km²). There were 119 housing units at an average density of 352.2 per square mile (135.1/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.61% White, 0.35% Native American, 0.35% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.74% of the population.

There were 115 households out of which 27.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.9% were married couples living together, 10.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.7% were non-families. 27.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 3.00.

In the village the population was spread out with 23.7% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 31.4% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 108.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.8 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $32,500, and the median income for a family was $38,125. Males had a median income of $34,375 versus $19,688 for females. The per capita income for the village was $15,505. About 11.3% of families and 14.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 16.5% of those under the age of eighteen and 7.7% of those sixty five or over.
