Kalvskinnet is an area of Trondheim, Norway, southwest in city centre, Midtbyen bordering the river Nidelva in the south. In Sverris saga the place is called akeren. The area is dominated by public offices, including such institutions as the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Sør-Trøndelag University College and Trondheim Science Museum. There are also some extremely lucrative houses in the area. In 1179 Kalvskinnet was the grounds of the Battle of Kalvskinnet between King Sverre Sigurdsson and Erling Skakke.[1]
