Kahror Pakka (Urdu: كہروڑ پكّا) (previously spelt Kahror Pacca), is a city and capital of Kahror Pakka Tehsil in Lodhran District of Punjab, Pakistan.
Demography
As of the 1988 census, the population of the tehsil is 361,532 .[1]
Languages
Commonly spoken language is Saraiki which is also known as "Multani", Other is migrated population from Zila Hisar, having the languages; Haryanvi, also called Rangari, Urdu, Mewati, and Punjabi of Patyalvi accent.
Weather
The climate is very hot and dry in summer and cool in winter. The hottest months are May to September. The maximum and minimum temperatures are 46 and 28 degree Celsius respectively. The coldest months are December to February. During this period the temperature fluctuates between 21 and 5 Celsius. The average annual rainfall is 71 millimeters.[1]
Transport
The Kahror Pakka to Lodhran road (32 km) which is a major artery in Lodhran District, passes through the city.An old railway station established in 1925 is present in city on which Trains for Lahore and Karachi stops.
The city has a direct link with Mailsi (35 km)and Dunyapur(25 km). Multan and Bahawalpur are the nearest airports with international flights.
Agriculture
Tehsil Kahror pakka is having a good name in Agriculture. Cotton is important crop of city. Kahror pakka is also known as cotton city. A new kind of cotton known as Bt cotton is cultivated on a large scale. In other crops there are wheat,sunflower.sugarcane,all kind of vegetables. In fruits Mango,Orange,Berry etc. are included.
Notable residents
- Syed Nasir Ali Rizvi, PPP's General Secretary and Deputy Secretary General in Z.A Bhutto Era, and Federal Minister for Housing Works and Urban Development Faisal Mosque,Supreme Court building and many more in Islamabad were constructed on his orders. Islamabad was mostly developed during his time of ministry. He was one of the very few Politicians in history of Pakistan who served without the due salary of Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan and that of the Public Offices he served. Electricity,Telephone, Metal Roads, Govt. Collage, & hospital etc. in Kahror Pacca, Dunyiapur, Lodhran tehsils were taken in existence by this Politician. He died on 5 feb, 2000 A.D in a Road Car Accident. He was second to Mr.Bhutto. He was the first Full Fledge Federal Minister in the history of the Multan division.He was also awarded the Highest Civilian award "Shams-ul-Mulk bin Abdul Aziz" by the Saudi Government, given by the late King Khalid.
