Kahna Nau

Kahna Nau is a town of Lahore District on Firozpur road 15 km away from Lahore[1] in Punjab.

Main downtown Kahna Nau is situated at 23 kilometer Ferozpur road and falls in Tehsil Cantt District Lahore. It falls under National Assembly constituency NA 129. The exact history of town is not known however it is estimated from some government archives dating to British era that a check post existed here between the cities of Lahore and Kasur. According to one oral tradition the names comes from the word "kahina" meaning a witch or a female magician with supernatural powers. Railway station is named as Kahna Kachha with addition of Kachha coming from a smaller village three four kilometers from main downtown where train station is actually located. Kahna Nau was traditionally a rural town with majority of people linked to agriculture however the past two decades it changed considerably with population explosion in Lahore. Now it is incongruent with buildings and settlements along Ferozpur road all the way to main Lahore. A vast majority of people is linked with business services and trade.
