Kabinda District

Kabinda District is a district located in the Kasai-Oriental province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.[1] In the 2006 constitution it was proposed to combine Kabinda District with the city of Mwene Ditu to form the proposed province of Lomami, effective no later than 18 February 2006).[2] As of October 2010, this had not taken place.[3]
Location
Kabinda District lies at the centre of the country on the Lomami River. It is distant from the city of Mbuji-Mayi, current capital of Kasai Oriental Province, 160 km along the national highway No. 1, which extends up to Kasongo in Maniema Province.
There are three major ethnic groups (Songye, Kanyok and Luba).
Administration
Manik Tshikut Ignace has been the district administrator since 2005.
