History

KWFC-FM began broadcasting on April 17, 1969 with Bill Askew as the first station manager. Askew retired briefly and returned as GM until his death in September,2000. Gary Longstaff was appointed as GM by BBC President Leland Kennedy upon Askew's death. Longstaff served in that capacity until October, 2009. In 1980, one of the announcers was Russ Ivison, now a missionary in England. The news director was Robert Compsty-Cummings, and the news reporter was Terry Walker. KWFC-FM began broadcasting on 97.3 MHz. That frequency was sold in the mid-1980s to KXUS, and KWFC moved to 89.1 MHz. The Missouri House of Representatives commemorated the 35th anniversary of broadcast operations with House Resolution 1735, adopted on April 15, 2004.
