KSRQ (90.1 FM, "Pioneer 90.1") is a 24,000-watt public radio station operated by Northland Community & Technical College at one point programmed a Triple A format. The station serves the Thief River Falls, Minnesota area with rimshot coverage in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It is part of Minnesota's Independent Public Radio network.
Despite KSRQ's current status as a "public" radio station, the station is actually a license held by Northland College, and as such, differs from other AMPERS stations such as KAXE which are run by their own non-profit organizations with boards and do not report to an academic licensee. The public radio era of KSRQ began in approximately 2004 under the direction of then General Manager Travis Ryder. Previously, KSRQ had been a training ground for students in the now defunct Broadcasting program of study.
