KRDY (1160 AM) is a radio station licensed to San Antonio, Texas, USA, that serves the Greater San Antonio area. The station is owned by the Walt Disney Company.[1]

History

The station went on the air as KFHM on 1978-05-31. On 1991-08-26, the station changed its call sign to KVAR, on 1993-10-15 to KENS (broadcasting a News/talk format), and on 2004-02-27 to the current KRDY.[2]

It was announced on June 4, 2013 that Disney is putting up 7 of its Radio Disney stations (including KRDY) up for sale in an attempt to increase revenue and focus more on the stations in the Top 25 markets.[3] In September 28, 2013, KRDY dropped the Radio Disney affiliation and went silent;[4] a few weeks later, Disney filed to sell KRDY, as well as KDIS-FM in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Salem Communications (which already owns KLUP and KSLR in San Antonio).[5]
