KPTR (1450 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Talk/Personality format. Licensed to Cathedral City, California, USA, it serves the Palm Springs, California, area. The station is currently owned by R & R Radio Corporation.
First went on air in 1965 as KGUY on the 1270AM dial, switched to 1140AM in 1975 to replace KPAL or "K-Palm", was replaced in 1978 by KCPS originally on 1300AM and finally to 1340AM under ownership of KWXY-FM 98.5 in 1985.
On February 2, 2010 KPTR and its progressive talk moved to 1450 AM, replacing KGAM. The Beautiful Music format of KWXY is currently heard on AM 1340, and is also being streamed at www.KWXY.com.
