Star 106.1 KLSS features Artists like Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Nickelback, Bruno Mars, and Katy Perry. KLSS Star 106-FM has over 40 years of broadcast experience in North Iowa and Southern Minnesota and features the Harry O. Morning Show, Middays with Jared Allen, Afternoons with Malone the John Tesh Show weeknights. Harry has been with the station for over 25 years. You can find him mornings from 5AM to 10am.
Jared Allen is next in the lineup on the air weekdays from 10am to 2pm. He is a 16 year radio veteran, and he has lived in several areas throughout the Midwest. He has lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and now I am proud to call North Iowa home. He started in radio while in high school at WBNQ in Bloomington Illinois and was one of those kids who just couldn’t wait to be on the air.
Jared is the Operations Manager/Program Director for KLSS Star 106, and he works hard to keep the station sounding great! Jared is also the Music Director. Which means he works with record labels and try's to determine as to what will be the biggest songs in the country in Star 106 KLSS's format.
He also hosts the Star 106 Reading Rocks campaign, which stresses the importance of being a lifelong reader to children. He is heavily involved with the Relay For Life of Cerro Gordo County. In fact, Jared was one the co-chairs for the 2010 Cerro Gordo County Relay For Life. Jared was the winner of the 2009 Media Mark Of Excellence Award for the entire state of Iowa in 2009 from the American Cancer Society. He also volunteers with the United Way of North Central Iowa, the American Red Cross, Make-A-Wish, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and many other charities in North Iowa.
Joe Malone hosts the afternoon show; on Star 106, from 2pm to 6pm weekdays. Joe’s been on the air in North Iowa since 1999. With stops in Fort Dodge, Webster City and Humboldt. Joe has donated much of his free time to help fight multiple sclerosis, with the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Joe is Production Director and his creativity shows through the Production Department. Join Joe weekdays for his Entertainment update, the Scotty Too Hottie Reviews It Before He See's it Movie Review and the ever so popular Drive at 5. Joe won the Iowa Governor’s Award for Volunteerism for his work with Upper Des Moines Opportunity Inc. Joe also produces music for his band and that knowledge of music production relates very well to commercial production. While in Humboldt was instrumental for organizing a number of benefits for the local Eagles club.
Star 106, KLSS features; local weather, sports and 6 local newscasts with Bob Fisher weekdays. Bob Fisher is the News Director for KLSS. Bob has been a Mason City Native his whole life. Bob has won many awards from the Iowa Broadcasters Association for his news coverage. Bob is also the voice home and away voice for the Clear Lake Lions on sister station KRIB. Bob is an active member of the Mason City Municipal Band. He was also a 5 year board member for the Iowa Broadcasters Association as well as past president. Bob has a passion for news and has 16 years of radio experience.
Star 106 also hosts the Children's Miracle Network Radiothon each October which raises money for the Children's Miracle Network and the University Of Iowa Children's Hospital. Which helps kids and families in need of major medical care.[1][2]
