KBJZ-LP (94.1 FM) is a radio station broadcasting not only a Jazz format, but also many other types of music from vintage to current hip-hop. KBJZ is licensed to serve Juneau, Alaska, USA. The station is currently owned by Gastineau Broadcasting Corporation.[1]

It is known for its eccentric programming, including the freestyle sessions of local hip-hop artists under the supervision of The Genius, international underground punk rock presented by local rocker David Conway, and, in the past, Collette Costa's daily 6AM-12PM Morning Madame program. KBJZ also includes a lesser-known weekly program, "Musical Explorations with Lucille and Grandpa," which offers a huge range of music for a variety of musical tastes.[citation needed]

Also, it has been home to the local DJ extraodinare, DJ Astronomar, whom spent many nights in this small cubby of a broadcasting room with his colleagues and friends spinning freely and making new mix-tapes which have been exclusive to the KBJZ library of music. This was once the place where a simple person felt like they were reaching out to all ears listening and provided inspiration to himself and others.
