The station was assigned the KBEX call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on February 20, 2013.[1]

KBEX 99.3 FM is a companion station with KXIT (1240 AM & 94.5 FM); both stations broadcast from studios on U.S. Route 385 North outside Dalhart.
