König Pilsener Arena, formerly Arena Oberhausen, is a multi-purpose arena, located in Oberhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The capacity of the arena is 12,650 and was opened in 1996.

The arena is part of Neue Mitte Oberhausen, a former industrial complex which has been converted into a shopping mall and other recreational, cultural and sportive purposes. The König-Pilsener-ARENA was opened in 1996 as the Arena Oberhausen, but changed its name in 1998 to König-Pilsener-ARENA.

Configuration

The maximum capacity of the arena is 12.650, where the seating is arranged on two levels. It is also possible to have a center stage configuration, 12.000 people can attend such events. There are also two possible theater configurations with 3.000 and 5.200 capacity, respectively.

Events

The arena hosts a wide variety of events, with more than 800,000 people attending about a hundred events.

International artists that have been giving concerts at the venue include: KISS, Status Quo, Oasis, Cliff Richard, R.E.M., Kylie Minogue, Alanis Morissette, Black Sabbath, The Cure, Limp Bizkit, The Smashing Pumpkins, Bryan Adams, Toto, Roger Waters, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Radiohead, Meat Loaf, Santana, Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel, Back Street Boys, Westlife, Britney Spears, Placebo, Journey, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, The Who, Leonard Cohen, AC/DC, Pink, Deep Purple, Scorpions, Nickelback, Depeche Mode, Metallica, Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Rihanna, Joe Cocker, Simply Red, Christina Aguilera, Roxette, Neil Diamond, Sade, Chris Rea and Jennifer Lopez. In 2013, Eros Ramazotti, Eric Clapton, One Direction, as well as Joe Cocker, Leonard Cohen, and other national and international artists are scheduled to hold concerts at the venue.

The arena also hosts a variety of shows, e.g. Stomp or Riverdance.

The König Pilsener Arena played host to UFC 122 on the 13th of November 2010.
