Justin Gaethje (born November 14, 1988) is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the Lightweight division. He is currently signed with the World Series of Fighting, where he is the Lightweight champion.
Mixed martial arts career
Gaethje made his MMA debut as an amateur on August 2, 2008. He amassed up an undefeated amateur record of 7-0.
Gaethje made his pro debut on August 20, 2011 against Kevin Croom. He won via first round TKO
Justin would win his next four fights after hitting a pro record of 5-0, Gaethje next faced off against UFC vet Drew Fickett. He knocked Fickett out in just :12 seconds of the fight.[1]
Gaethje next faced off against Adrian Valdez. He won via TKO.
World Series of Fighting
Gaethje made his WSOF debut at WSOF 2 against Strikeforce vet Gesias Cavalcante. He won via doctor stoppage in the first round.[2]
Gaethje next fight was at WSOF 3 against UFC and MFC vet Brian Cobb.[3] Gaethje defeated Cobb via TKO due to leg kicks in round three.
For his third fight with the promotion, Gaethje faced UFC veteran Dan Lauzon at WSOF 6. Gaethje dominated the fight with his powerful striking and won via TKO in the second round.
Gaethje fought for the inaugural WSOF Lightweight Championship against Richard Patishnock, on January 18th, 2014 at WSOF 8.[4] Gaethje won via TKO in the first round to become WSOF's first Lightweight champion.[5] [6]
