Jumanji is a North American exclusive PC-game for Microsoft Windows that was released on 1996, which was based on the 1995 film of the same title. Clips of famous cutscenes from the film, can also be viewed.[1] Not much info about the PC game is known, due to not many copies of this computer game being sold, making this a rare title, being sold on online auction/shopping sites such as eBay for $27.99.[2]
Gameplay
There are a total of five individually different mini-games that the player can choose from, and will be instructed with rules, and the goal of how to proceed. Unlike the movie, the Jumanji animals will give the player rules and instructions on how the mini-games by talking to the player with narration who's given an instruction (expect for the Treasure Maze mini-game which you'll get instructed by the Jumanji board game spirit instead), specifically. All five of the Mini-games are Arcade-style based and each mini-game is based on a famous scene from the film. Also unlike the film, Players can not play the Jumanji board-game. All of these mini-games contain rounds (or levels) and whenever you reach a goal, that level is cleared and you proceed to the next round, as you continue to perform the same goal, but the challenge slowly increases, as you clear more rounds. So basically, The object of these mini-games is that, the player must try to score as many points as possible, and trying to reach the best high score.
Mini Games
- Jumanji Treasure Maze (Center): Play as Alan Parrish as you travel around the mansion maze collecting the red Jumanji gems as the Jumanji animals fear these precious gems, while avoiding the poisonous vines and giant spiders. However, the vines can be jumped over, as well as pitfalls. Get to the totem poles to win and proceed to the next round.
- Monsoon Lagoon (Crocodile Totem): You also play as Alan Parrish in here. The house is flooded with water and the object is that, the player must jump from one piece of furniture to the next, across the rapids. But staying on one won't keep you safe for long, since it will sink, so the player has to be quick. Falling into the water, will cost you a life. Also, watch out for hippos and crocodiles. Reach the Chandelier to win and proceed to the next round.
- Monkey Mission (Monkey Totem): The player controls Peter Shepard in the kitchen, as he must collect the plates and pick up snacks that appear on the ground to earn points, while dodging the pans and pots that are thrown by the Monkeys. The only way to stop the monkeys is to catch them and throw them into the refrigerator. Also watch out for the attacking monkey. If you stop the monkeys, you will win and move on to the next round.
- Wild Hunter (Elephant Totem): The player controls Sarah Whittle at a jungle, where she must fire oranges to splat the animals and also, take down the ruthless big board-game Hunter Van Pelt, in order to rescue Alan. The player must also avoid projectile strawberries incoming towards Sarah and must also avoid hitting Alan or Peter. If the player is able to defeat Van Pelt with several hits, you win and move on to the next round.
- Tiny Bites (Rhino Totem): Playing as Judy Shepard who's all alone in the dark attic, she must protect herself by swatting Bats and mosquitoes with her trusty tennis racquet as it goes directly over to the spiders in a diagonal matter to distract them and will eat the bats and mosquitoes, while trying to prevent them from coming down and creeping up towards Judy. If the spider gets all the way down and bites Judy, you'll lose a life. If all the bats and mosquitoes come through, you win and proceed to the next round.
