Long has fought many unknown fighters, and when he has fought known boxers he has usually been knocked out.

Long subsequently fought a kickboxing bout in K-1 and lost to giant Jan Nortje and after giving him a very tough fight.

Long vs. Maddalone

During his last fight against fan favorite Vinny Maddalone an unintentional headbutt occurred during the 5th round, and Maddalone was forced to stop fighting, giving Julius Long a victory. However, later on that month the result was reversed to a 'No Contest', because Long had tested positive for marijuana.

Personal

Long's brother is Grant Long and cousin is Terry Mills, both NBA players. His uncle is John Long, who played for the Detroit Pistons. Long has also been fighting a personal battle with Ryan McMahon, the outcome is yet to be decided. Long has always been seen as the rank outsider.
