Juliet Marillier (born 27 July 1948) is a New Zealand-born writer of fantasy, focusing predominantly on historical fantasy.[1] She was educated at the University of Otago, where she graduated with a BA and a Bachelor of Music (honors). Marillier taught music at the high school and university levels and has also served as a choral conductor and opera singer.[2] In 2009 Marillier was diagnosed with breast cancer.[2]
