Judith Chapman (born Judith Shepard on November 15, 1951 in Greenville, South Carolina) is an American soap opera actress, best known for roles as Natalie Bannon Hughes in As the World Turns, Charlotte Greer on Ryan's Hope, Ginny Blake Webber on General Hospital, Sandra Montaigne on One Life to Live, Anjelica Deveraux Curtis on Days of our Lives, and as Gloria Abbott Bardwell on The Young and the Restless.[1]

Life and career

Chapman is the daughter of retired United States Air Force general Leland C. Shepard Jr.. Her older sister Patty Shepard (born 1945) also worked as an actress. Chapman has had a long career in movies and television, and more recently, on the stage as an actress and director of many well-received theatrical productions. Her most recent film role was the mother of Judy (Parker Posey) in the 2002 romantic comedy, The Sweetest Thing. She debuted at the age of 16 in the Spaghetti Western Sette donne per i MacGregor. She has appeared on several daytime dramas since the mid-1970s. Her first soap role was Natalie Bannon Hughes on As the World Turns.

Chapman joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in January 2005, replacing Joan Van Ark in the contract role of Gloria Fisher.[2] In March 2011, it was announced that Chapman had been taken off her contract and bumped to recurring.[3]

Chapman guest actress on the final episode of Galactica 1980 titled "The Return of Starbuck", where she played the Seraph Angela, as well as two episodes of Magnum, P.I. - "The Black Orchid" from Season one[4] and "The Woman on the Beach" from Season two.[5] She also guest starred on three episodes of Murder, She Wrote.

She tested for the role Pamela Barnes Ewing in Dallas original series.
