Jude Rogers
Jude Rogers is a Welsh[1] journalist and lecturer who is a music critic for The Guardian.[2] She also regularly writes features and articles for The Observer,[3] New Statesman[4] and women's magazines such as Red.[5] Her articles have also been published by The Times and by BBC Music[6] and she broadcasts on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4 and BBC 6 Music.[3] She is a senior lecturer in journalism at London Metropolitan University.[3][7]
Early life and education
She was born and bred in two villages near Swansea,[8][9] where she went to comprehensive school.[10] In 1997 Rogers became president of the student union at Wadham College, Oxford.[10] She has an English degree from the University of Oxford and an MA from Royal Holloway.[7]
Professional career
In 2003 Rogers co-founded the magazine Smoke: a London Peculiar.[11][12]
After working as reviews editor on The Word, she became a full-time freelancer in 2007.[7]
She has been a judge on several music prize panels,[3] including the Welsh Music Prize[9][13] and the Mercury Prize,[9] and was one of ten experts chosen to write for the University of Westminster's MusicTank 10:10 project, writing about the future of music journalism.[3][14]
Personal life
She married in 2011.[15] She and her husband Dan[15] live in Leyton, north east London.[8]
