Juan Cirerol (born 8 June 1986) is a Mexican singer-songwriter.

Cirerol was born in Mexicali, Mexico. He studied classic guitar since he was 13 at the Autonomous University of Baja California.[1]

He started off early in several punk bands. Having spent his youth writing, Cirerol has at this point composed over 200 songs. He has been, on several occasions, referred to as Mexico's Johnny Cash.[2]

In 2008, he started playing in the north of Mexico (Hermosillo, Tijuana, Mexicali) and recorded his debut studio album, No mas sirvo pa' cantar.

In 2008, he recorded and released his second studio album, Ofrenda al Mictlan, while in Mexico City with the help of visual artist Txema Novelo, under the independent record label Vale Vergas Discos.[3] The debut album immediately struck a chord with thousands of Mexican listeners who, like Cirerol, grew up loving the music and themes he touches upon. Whether talking about a beautiful chola (La Chola), about stealing money from his mom and taking pills (Clonazepam Blues), middle class bittersweet heartache (Crema Dulce, Clase Media), or issuing a Mexicali excessive heat warning (Hace Mucho Calor), the album includes what are now considered classics in the Mexican rock 'n' roll canon, such as the laid back pot smoking anthem Toque y Rol[4](which was rated the 17th best song of 2011 by Club Fonograma. Ofrenda al Mictlan went from being a well-kept secret in the Vale Vergas Discos catalog to a distinguished cult album.[5]

In July 2011, Club Fonograma named his album Ofrenda al Mictlan number 11 in their list of essential albums.

His song "Corrido Chicalor" was named in September 2011 by guardian.co.uk and the Music Alliance Pact, as one of the 35 best new tracks in the world.[6]

This album, Ofrenda al Mictlan was very well received and the music critics at Club Fonograma rated it as the 11th best album of 2011.

Carlos Reyes has called Cirerol “a storyteller, a romantic, and a stylist of the popular song”.[7]
