Ju (state)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The State of Ju (Chinese: ancient 虘, trad. 莒國, simp. 莒国, pin. Jǔguó) was an ancient Dongyi state in the area of modern day Shandong Province, People's Republic of China during the Zhou Dynasty (1046–256 BCE).[1] Shuowen Jiezi said "Ju" means taro or a wooden tool.[2] It was weakened by wars with the states of Chu and Qi. Finally, the state was annexed by the State of Qi, and its territory became the City of Ju. [3][4]
