Journal Deutsche Welle or Journal is a daily, half-hour news programme on DW. It is broadcast every day and alternately in English and German, mainly for DW International viewers. Journal is broadcast in Spanish for viewers in Latin America: at 02.00 and 22.00 UTC daily and in Arabic for viewers in Middle East broadcast 6 times daily at 01.00, 03.00, 17.00, 19.00, 21.00 and 23.00 UTC. In Asia, the programme is shown at 11.00, 13.00 and 15.00 UTC on DW-TV Asia. DW-TV Asia+ broadcasts Journal at 12.00, 14.00, 16.00, 18.00, 20.00, 22.00 and 00.00 UTC. On DW-TV Asia or DW-TV Asien (now called DW (Asien)) in German, the programme is only broadcast in German, at 01.00, 03.00, 11.00, 13.00 and 15.00 UTC. And on DW-TV Asia+ (now simply as DW for English language 24 hour broadcast), Journal is broadcast in English at 12.00, 14.00, 16.00, 18.00, 20.00, 22.00, 00.00, 02.00, 04.00 and 06.00 UTC. Was firstly broadcast at 1992 when DW-TV was still known as RIAS TV and the name kept exist. Major rebrands of the programme are in 1999, 2002 and 2006. The present Journal on air is based on the 2006 rebrand when Germany hosted the 2006 FIFA World Cup and DW was rebranded also at the time and the Journal as well. The music, studio and graphics of the Journal presently is based on the 2006 version and kept until present day.

Since 2012, the Journal has new format of broadcasting, following the rebrand of DW in February 2012.

2006 Revamp

Journal Deutsche Welle was revamped in June 2006 along with DW revamp. This included moving to a new studio, new music title composed and new graphics lower third of the screen.

2009 new look

The programme was again revamped in 2009. A new edition of Journal was launched. On weekdays, Journal With Business or Journal mit Wirschaft in German, was aired alongside Journal with In Depth (in German: Journal mit Tagesthema). A new edition, Journal with Business Review or in German, Journal mit Wirschaftsbilanz broadcast along with three editions such as Journal with Interview or Journal mit Interview in German, was broadcast on weekends. Journal with The Week (in German: Journal mit Die Woche) and Journal with Reporters (in German:Journal mit Reporter).

2012 new look

Following the rebrand of DW in February 2012, the Journal has also rebranded. That includes 3 minute summary, 15 minute segment and full 30 minute edition and broadcast full in English, German, Arabic and Spanish languages on DW channels. The graphics remain the same as 2006 rebrand.
