Joshua "Josh" Viola is an American science fiction/fantasy author best known for his eleven-time award-winning ultra-violent novel, The Bane of Yoto,[1][2] which tells the story of a race of slaves called the numah, which is what the main character Yoto is. He is stabbed with a magical dagger. But the blade does not kill him. It transforms him into a powerful god-like creature who is hell-bent on revenge.

Work and Education

Based in Denver, Josh Viola has a bachelor's degree in animation, a master's in marketing and was once a professor of Game Art and Design for Alta Colleges.

In 2003, Viola learned many methods of traditional art production from being apprenticed under acclaimed fantasy artist Monte Michael Moore. Later on that year, Viola had his art featured in the Linkin Park Underground postcard set by the band Linkin Park and has co-hosted their Projekt Revolution tour in Colorado in 2006.

From 2008 to 2010 Josh worked with New York Times bestselling author Steve Alten, which helped improve his writing and storytelling skills. He then later developed a strong working relationship with writer and editor Keith Ferrell to better understanding prose.

Starting in 2012, Viola began collaborating with Celldweller and his music label/publisher FiXT. Where he is the author of the novel, Blackstar (novel). He has also done some CD art, merchandise designs, apps and more.

FiXT

FiXT Music is the record label owned by Klayton of Celldweller, which is also the publisher of Josh's novels, The Bane of Yoto and Blackstar. Josh Viola has also done some CD art, merchandise designs & apps for FiXT. He is also the director of the “Unshakeable” animated music video for Celldweller. [5]

Leviathan Games

Leviathan Games is an Indie Game Developer which Josh is the art director for, which are the game developers that helped develop the 3D comic app for The Bane Of Yoto.[6] Josh has worked on many video games such as Disney's “Pirates of the Caribbean”, Capcom’s “Smurfs Grabber”, Konami’s “TARGET: Terror,” Leviathan Games' “Besieged 2”, “HorseLife Adventures”, “The Bane of Yoto” 3D comic app (featured by Nvidia Tegra) and more.

Novels

The Bane Of Yoto

The Bane of Yoto was the first novel published by music label FiXT Music,[11] owned by Klayton of Celldweller, who has a prominent presence in major Hollywood films and video games. The Yoto novel was followed by its prequel, Bloodmoon: Birth of the Beast, written by Keith Ferrell (edited by Josh Viola), which was also published by FiXT. Bloodmoon showcases the villain's rise to power.

The Bane of Yoto is also available in the form of a 3D comic app by Leviathan Games, featuring music by Celldweller.[12]

Blackstar

Josh Viola has also written a second novel, Blackstar (novel),[13] for Klayton of Celldweller. The novel is based on Celldweller's album Wish Upon a Blackstar. The book is accompanied by a score album written by Klayton himself. [14] [15]

Luna One (Short Story)

A short story that is not yet released, being written by Josh Viola The genre is science-fiction. Not much else is known about the story just yet.[16]

Josh Viola has won eleven awards from various book festivals around the world for The Bane of Yoto novel.[17]
